120 Days of Sodom (Arena Books) by Marquis de Sade Sounds like there are passionate feelings about whether this book is a good translation or not. It is def. a contemporary translation- as one reviewer noted "descharge" is frequently translated into "cock juice." I can't comment on the editing issues because I haven't read other translations of 120 days of sodom and I doubt I will because man, that Marquis was one sick twist. Certainly more vile then any contemporary pornography, the best thing you can say about the content of 120 Days of Sodom is that it is a Swiftian satire of contemporary society. Accidental Slave by Claire Thompson I like this genre of BDSM literature. Although the premise at the beginning of the book is unbelievable (a slave auction for businessmen at a fancy club), it's all good after that. The dialog between the two main characters is SO realistic and believable (unlike many, many books of this type), you feel like you are in the room with them. You feel like you know these people. And what they say to each other is a real turn-on. After the first chapter, it was hard to put it down. Hope I can find another like it. Manual Creation: Defining the Structure of an M/s Household by Machele Kindle This was written by a person that has less then 5 years of experience, who went to a week-end class and then called herself a Dominant (P.16). Now she is giving bad information about subjects that she has little real knowledge about. For example, she has a chapter on a poly house without having ever had a poly house or any kind of poly experience (P.86). Return to the Chateau by Pauline Reage After reading all the reviews here, it's obvious there's something few reviewers understood about this book. It was not written as a 'sequel.' It is actually the closing chapters of the Story of O, which the original publishers cut off that book. This is why it's so short, and why the descriptive details are fewer--you are reading the ending of the Story of O, where the reader is already familiar with all the sensual details. Read the last chapters of any novel, and you will find the descriptions are less detailed for the same reason. Slave Castle by Claire Thompson This is one of the first Claire Thompson books I ever read. It's edgy and sexy, though in the end it's a romance. I found the BDSM scenes intense and very real. Ms. Thompson is such a good writer, she makes any story real, breathing life into the characters, no matter how unlikely the scenario she creates for them.
